KYLE Taylor feels loan club Southend must “grow up” if they are to recover from their poor start to the season.

Blues were beaten 2-1 by Morecambe at Roots Hall on Saturday, as Mark Molesley’s side slumped to a fifth defeat in succession.

But Taylor - who has signed on loan from Cherries until January - is confident the Shrimpers will soon be able to kick-start their season.

“There’s a new manager and a new team and there’s lots to learn but in the coming weeks it’s only going to get better,” said the 21-year-old.

“We saw some good bits out there but the bad bits led to us losing the game. so we have to keep our head down and work hard.

"I don’t think we will get too down about the result but after three losses it’s obvious we need to grow up a little bit and I don’t think we can really lose that game really, especially after going 1-0 up.”

He added: “We’re disappointed and we’re not happy.

“But my first impressions are that everyone here wants to win and it’s just about bouncing back.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves, we have to pick ourselves up and go again.

"We’re all very hungry.”

Taylor could be involved once again when Southend visit Crawley in League Two on Saturday (3pm).
