A MAN was assaulted and had his phone stolen after he became involved in a verbal altercation in a pub in Sherborne.

At around 11.20pm on Saturday September 19 the victim – a 19-year-old local man – was with friends at the White Hart pub in Cheap Street when he became involved in a verbal altercation with a man from another group.

As the victim left the pub he was assaulted by the man, who punched him several times.

He was taken to hospital and received treatment for swelling to his head and also sustained grazes to his shoulder and neck.

Later the victim realised his phone – a black iPhone 11 – had gone missing during the incident.

Police Constable James Curtis-Burchett, of Dorchester and Sherborne police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and have obtained a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to as part of our investigation.

“I would urge anyone with information as to his identity to please contact us.”
