A Colombian born Bournemouth resident who runs extra-curriculum Spanish classes for children is celebrating the "graduation" of her first group of students

Ximena Bleaney launched Bright Little Minds in January 2019 with the aim to introduce Spanish to young children aged two to 12 years old through games, role play and music.

The reality was that virtual classes didn't suit every family and Ximena saw a reduced number of students.

Nevertheless, that didn't stop her continuing with her commitment with her pupils who have been learning with her since she started her business.

She said: "My classes revolve around games, stories, play roles and lots of music. Listening skills are consolidated with the use of day to day vocabulary and speaking skills are reinforce through repetition and singing. Children love the Spanish songs; they enjoy learning this fantastic new skill which will give them a great kick start in life."

This week some students were commemorated for their hard work and commitment with their Spanish classes by delivering certificates and medals to her students in person.

Ximena added: "I am so glad I continued offering my lessons via Zoom, it was really rewarding to see the progress that my pupils while still at their homes.

“I was delighted to see the kids' faces when receiving the medals and certificates, they look very happy and proud of their achievement.

"It makes me smile to think that my classes had a positive impact and that is something that I cherish.”
