FREELANCE chef and founder of Sunday Roast Deliveries Paul Lavery has launched his company's annual Homeless Feed.

Sunday Roast Deliveries frequently branch out beyond supplying a favourite weekend meal to help local and nationwide charities.

At Christmas time, the company conduct a Homeless Feed which supplies a 3-4 course meal for about 40 homeless people.

This includes hot soup, a turkey dinner, Christmas pudding and mince pies.

Sunday Roast Deliveries also provide a variety of essential items to the homeless such as warm, thermal items, hygiene products and long-life food.

Paul highlighted people's generosity with the scheme: "Every year we try to get as many people as possible to help. We are very lucky as our suppliers Harvest Fine Foods and County Foods are very generous. They donate vegetables, meat joints and more."

Sunday Roast Deliveries was founded with a vision to provide a unique, Sunday roast service and to help people to the best of their ability.

So far, Paul has been inundated with offers of help and donations from people.

He said: "Doing this makes you realise that there are so many generous people. I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has pledged to help."

Despite organising other homeless campaigns throughout the year with Bubbles Hair and Care, Paul is always keen to organise annual Homeless Feeds at Christmas time.

He explained: "Christmas is a good time to raise awareness of homelessness. It's also good for local businesses too as they can get involved and give something back to the community."

Paul's compassion for the homeless isn't only evident with his Homeless Feeds, but with the times he has taken a homeless person under his wing and let them stay at his house until they get back on their feet.

Without a home address, it can be difficult for people to claim benefits.

Paul believes that by taking a chance on people, they can be helped in the long run.

Paul explained: "If we live our lives without taking a risk, we wouldn't get anywhere. You've got to have faith in people.

"Having strangers in your home isn't for everyone, but there are ways we can help homeless people."

Helping the homeless this year can be done by supporting Paul and the Sunday Roast Deliveries' Christmas Homeless Feed.

Ideas for donations are as follows: toiletries, feminine hygiene products, thermal items, shoes and long-life food.

Paul's ambition is to receive enough donations and support this year to extend the Homeless Feed to Poole and Bournemouth.
