THE NUTCRACKER

Returning by popular demand, Vienna Festival Ballet proudly presents The Nutcracker at the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne. Set to Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score, the traditional tale of The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara and her enchanted nutcracker doll. Their adventures see Clara and the Nutcracker combat the Mouse King, and join the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier on a wonderful journey through the glistening Land of Snow to a kingdom made entirely of sweets.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK

The seeds have been sown for a magical Christmas at Lighthouse, Poole. Writer-producer Peter Duncan is to play his first ever panto Dame, opposite former Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah and Connor Byrne, instantly recognisable to TV audiences from the Tracy Beaker series and the Dumping Ground. This is the fourth year running that Lighthouse has co-produced its homegrown pantomime with Duncan Reeves Productions, the company headed by Olivier Award-nominated actor and TV presenter Peter Duncan and musical director Darren Reeves.

JOOLS HOLLAND

Musical virtuoso Jools Holland and his distinguished Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will be heading to the BIC as part of their well-renowned autumn/winter UK tour for 2019. Accompanying Jools will be the supremely talented Ruby Turner, with her breath-taking gospel, soul and rhythm & blues vocals, Louise Marshall, with her beautiful soul and jazz tones, as well as original Squeeze member and powerhouse Gilson Lavis on drums.

UKULELE ORCHESTRA OF GREAT BRITAIN

The group that made the uke cool and gave us uke mania are set to stage a bit of festive frivolity at Lighthouse, Poole. With Bells On is billed as "a little midwinter mischief and the chance to play or sing along with the odd well worn Christmas classic". The invitation is there for audience members to watch the online tutorials and learn the parts then bring their own ukes and join in the fun live.

DICK WHITTINGTON

December 20

Following the huge success of last year’s record breaking production of Cinderella, Made-to-Measure Productions are returning to Wimborne’s Tivoli Theatre with a production of Dick Whittington.

The rags-to-riches story tells the tale of a boy from Wimborne who travels all the way to London to make his fortune, believing that the streets there are paved with gold. In actual fact, the streets are covered in rats – there’s an infestation throughout the city and it will be up to Dick and his feline friend to save the day.
