Starting from Bournemouth seafront why not begin your Christmas adventure with a ride on Bournemouth’s Big Wheel. A spectacular illuminated beacon from which you can spot all the delights awaiting you along the festive trail and get a bird’s eye view of Christmas in Smugglers Cove. Why not join Santa for a festive game of golf?

Next to the Big Wheel, the Moscow Tree towers over the seafront, conjuring up visions of icy forests and twinkling starlit skies. As you make your way towards Bournemouth’s beautiful Victorian Lower Gardens you will find yourself stepping into a fairy tale world with the enchanting Tree of Light and the spectacular shimmering pink glow of the Warsaw Tree up ahead.

Along the trail look out for the teddy bears and the magnificent splendour of the Seattle Tree, with its baubles of light stacked high into the sky.

Making your way past the Pavilion Theatre don’t miss the stunning streams of light cascading like a waterfall over the Grade II listed rockery. Keeping right will take you up into the Polar Walk where you will find cuddly polar bears, icicle shards and enchanting, sparkling illuminations.

Or, if you choose to continue along the main path to the left, you’ll see the glittering, iconic Pay by Phone Bethlehem Tree, complete with its very own nativity scene, the impressive South Western Railway St Petersburg Tree, shimmering with a blue glacial glow and the amazing Vodafone Gigafast Tree of Light, new for 2019 and standing an impressive 10m high.

At this point in your journey you will already be able to catch a glimpse of the amazing Bournemouth Wonderland Tree towering over the gardens. This 60ft tree, with 30,000 individually programmable LED lights looks spectacular at any time but don’t miss the bespoke music and light shows - you won’t be able to resist getting into the Christmas spirit!

There is still plenty to explore around Christmas Tree Wonderland, including the Ice Rink with its Moguls Bar, the Alpine Christmas Market stalls in Bournemouth Square and the Alpine Lodge Bar, where you can enjoy a festive tipple. When you’ve had your fill. why not wander up to The Triangle to take a selfie in the Giant Bauble, or stroll up Old Christchurch Road, past festive shop windows and on to Beale Place where you’ll find another new addition to Christmas Tree Wonderland – a 7m Giant Reindeer.

Continuing up Old Christchurch Road you will see impressive illuminated stem lighting dropping from the trees in Horseshoe Common and you can wave to the gingerbread people who have made their home on the Lansdowne roundabout.

If all that walking has exhausted you then make sure you drop into one of the multitude of cafes, restaurants, bars and hotels across the town to sample their festive fare and take a well-earned rest.
