THE support of a Dorset charity has made dreams come true for two disabled adults.
Sue, 60 and Ian, 53, enjoyed a magical trip to Disneyland Paris, accompanied by their Diverse Abilities support workers.
As the pair are wheelchair users, there were limited rides they could enjoy, but spent a lot of time exploring the parks and meeting characters.
Support worker Elise Sainval said: “Ian is registered blind and Disneyland Paris were very accommodating. The characters really engaged with Ian, encouraging him to feel their costumes. He enjoyed guessing who was who from this– giving him a more sensory experience which he loved!”
“Sue is the biggest Disney fan you'll ever meet and most days will be wearing something Minnie Mouse. When Sue met Minnie, her face was a picture and the loveliest sight to see. She also loved meeting all the princesses and princes!”
Sue and Ian flew from Southampton Airport and were even able to meet the pilot before enjoying a stay at Sequoia Lodge, one of the Disney hotels.
Elise said: "It was the first time me and Andrea had been on a holiday with the people we support and it's the best thing I've ever done, seeing the guys that happy didn't feel like work at all.”
Ian and Sue are supported through the Diverse Abilities’ Adult Services Team. They live in their own home and receive care and support from staff employed by the charity, enabling them to live how they choose. Diverse Abilities supports 36 adults in their own homes, providing 24/7 care giving them the opportunity to live life to the full.
