With its stunning ocean views and choice of suites tailored for weddings of all sizes and styles, the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel is the perfect venue to host your special day.

Whether it’s an intimate, beach-themed wedding, or a larger, more formal affair, the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott helps you plan your big day, your way, so that you have the wedding that you have always dreamed of.

From the relaxed feel of their exclusive Harry’s Bar, right through to the grandeur of the larger Dorchester Suite, brides and grooms from all over the country choose the exquisite Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel to tie the knot beside the sea.

With its dedicated wedding co-ordinator Natalie Littlefair and experienced events team, the four-star Bournemouth clifftop hotel offers a bespoke choice of room size and style, food and drink packages and those extra touches including an ice cream bike, entertainment packages and wedding stationery so you can create a unique and memorable day.

“Most couples have their ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception at the hotel,” explains Natalie. “Although we also have couples who choose to just host their wedding breakfast and evening reception with us.

“For summer weddings, our open air gazebo is a beautiful venue for couples to get married overlooking the sea. The views really are stunning and completely unique to the hotel.

“Having a choice of wedding suites, we can host all sizes of guest list, from one or two people up to 220 for your wedding breakfast and up to 350 for your evening reception. Featuring its own entrance and bar, our largest suite, the Dorchester Suite, gives couples that exclusivity and privacy for their big day.”

When it comes to planning, it is the little details that count and Natalie works closely with couples right through the preparation stages up until the wedding day. “When a couple hosts their special day at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel, they strive for exactly that; their special day,” Natalie says.

“No two couples are the same so no two weddings should be the same. I work alongside brides and grooms-to-be to create their big day that is unique to them. If they have a favourite dish then our Executive Chef can craft a bespoke menu; if a couple wants to theme their day then our wedding suites become a canvas for your ideas. That’s why I love my role, it is different every day and I enjoy getting to know the brides and grooms.”

Whether the happy couple has their heart set on a formal three-course meal, a relaxed buffet or, to give their guests a real taste of the Bournemouth seaside, a traditional fish and chip supper, Natalie works with the hotel’s award-winning chefs to create a bespoke package of food and drink options.

“We do have packages and set menus to help guide our couples but they can tweak them depending on their own ideas and also budget. Being beside the sea, barbecues are a really popular choice which can be hosted in our private gardens overlooking Bournemouth Pier.

“We have just introduced a new £2,016.00 wedding package for 2016 which features an afternoon tea instead of a formal sit-down meal which is a really popular contemporary twist on the traditional wedding breakfast.”

A wedding is often the biggest event to date in someone’s life, and the extensive choice offered by the modern day wedding industry can be overwhelming. As the hotel’s dedicated wedding coordinator, it is Natalie’s role to guide couples through this decision-making process.

“Planning a wedding can be daunting for any couple. From cakes to centrepieces; colour themes to entertainment, and not forgetting of course the big decision of the dress – there are so many things to think about. Marriott has its own online pinboard called Meetings Imagined, which is fantastic for pulling together ideas to create online image boards so couples can really design and visualise their day,” says Natalie.

As well as the Meetings Imagined digital pinboard, the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel’s online offering also includes a bespoke wedding webpage for all couples’ big day.

“Our brides and grooms can add photos and a personal message to their customised webpage which is a fun way to provide information for wedding guests and is also a go-to for guests to book their discounted rooms,” Natalie says.

Featuring 160 bedrooms and extensive leisure facilities including an indoor and seasonal outdoor heated pool, tennis court, fitness centre and tranquil health and beauty rooms as well as its own private beach hut, wedding guests can relax in comfort and style at the Bournemouth Marriott Highcliff Hotel after a long day of celebrations.

The hotel even features picturesque, Grade II listed cottages overlooking private landscaped gardens and Bournemouth Bay which can be reserved for the new Mr and Mrs.

To help the bride relax and rejuvenate before her big day, the Bournemouth Marriott Hotel offers a unique package for the Bride and her bridesmaids the night before the wedding which includes overnight accommodation in one of the hotel’s beautiful suites as well as a few added luxuries including bubbly, chocolates and bath amenities.

As Natalie adds, “Weddings are such a special occasion, and it is a privilege when our team here at the Bournemouth Marriott are chosen to be such a big part of their day. It still brings a tear to my eye every time I see our brides walk down the aisle.”

NATALIE’S “I DOS” AND “I DON’TS”

“I dos”

Do set a budget and stick to it. Before you start looking at venues and gathering ideas, have a serious think about the budget that you are working to and make sure that you stick to it. Once you start attending wedding fairs and flicking through bridal magazines, it is easy to get carried away with your spending . • Do look for your venue first. Your venue should be one of the first decisions that you make. Once you have your venue and have set your date you can start to make other plans like designing your invitations and choosing your evening entertainment.

“I don’ts”

• Don’t panic. Planning a wedding is a big task and there are lots of decisions to be made, but don’t panic. Write yourself a to-do list and set mini deadlines for key decisions to be made so you can keep on track. Time really does fly and your big day will be here before you know it . • Don’t be persuaded by others. The announcement of an engagement is an exciting time for couples, their friends and their family. Lots of your loved ones will be full of ideas for your wedding, but remember that it is your day so make sure that you and your partner have the ultimate say on the decisions.
